After an incredibly difficult Fall 2020 that included weathering the pandemic, losing two people close to her, and her own medical difficulties, Amber fortuitously connected with Monroe Harding’s Opportunity Now Reengagement Hub on a cold, snowy day earlier this year. Through this connection, our Hub and Supportive Housing staff immediately collaborated and secured Amber safe, stable housing and stocked her cupboards with food. Also in late 2020, Amber enrolled at Nashville State Community College but was forced to stop attending when hit with so many personal tragedies in a row. Now that Amber is living in Monroe Harding’s supportive housing, she is also working closely with our Education Coordinator, Emily Grohs, to resume her financial aid and studies at Nashville State. Emily recently helped Amber complete her formal appeal to Nashville State for reinstatement. We are now just waiting to learn the results of her appeal and are hopeful she will enroll in classes again soon!
